Get Involved

Four ways to be part of this work.

Alpha Life Foundation is small on purpose. The four options below cover essentially all of how our participants and supporters engage with us. If none of them fit and you'd still like to be involved, please write.

1. Attend a program

All five programs are open to new participants, some on a rolling basis, some at defined enrollment windows. Choose the one that fits your season of life:

  • Foundations, new to faith, curious, or returning after time away. Rolling cohorts every spring and fall.
  • Together, married couples. Annual weekend retreat in May with quarterly follow-ups. Applications reviewed in March.
  • Life After, grief, loss, or life transition. Open enrollment, write anytime and we will match you to the next group opening.
  • Neighbors, need a ride, meal, home visit, or seasonal help? Contact the coordinator directly at info@alphalifefoundation.org with subject "Neighbors request."
  • Youth Bridge, ages 16-20. Applications reviewed annually in July for the fall pairing.

2. Volunteer

We are entirely volunteer-run. Program leaders are our largest volunteer need. Adjacent volunteer roles include event set-up, occasional driving, background administrative work, and (rarely) light IT.

Program leadership

All program leaders complete a training weekend and are paired with an experienced facilitator for their first cohort or group. We ask a two-year commitment where possible. Background checks are required for all leaders who work directly with youth or who visit participants at home; the Foundation covers the cost.

Adjacent roles

Event volunteers, meal prep, driving, and administrative help involve minimal training and can be arranged on a per-event basis. Write to info@alphalifefoundation.org with subject "Volunteer" and a brief note on your interests.

3. Give

Alpha Life Foundation is entirely funded by modest annual contributions from participants, alumni, and a small handful of local foundations. Our board approves all program spending; our treasurer files annual returns with the IRS.

Where your gift goes

  • Program facilitator training, annual training weekend, materials, occasional stipends
  • Background checks, required for youth-serving and in-home volunteers
  • Retreat facility fees, Together weekend and quarterly board and leader retreats
  • Printing, quarterly letter, program materials, meeting handouts
  • Insurance, general liability and directors and officers coverage

How to give

By check, made payable to Alpha Life Foundation Inc, mailed to 4747 Purdue Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230. Please indicate on the memo line if your gift is for a specific program (all five program names are accepted); unspecified gifts go to general operations.

By recurring contribution or electronic gift, please write to info@alphalifefoundation.org with subject "Give" for instructions.

Alpha Life Foundation Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in California. Employer Identification Number 91-2088852. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Consult your tax advisor for guidance on your particular circumstance.

4. Refer someone

Most of our participants come to us because a friend, colleague, pastor, or family member mentioned us. If someone in your life might be well served by one of our programs, please tell them. We do not run advertising, and word-of-mouth is how the work continues.

A short note from you to a friend, "I heard about this group, it might be worth a look", is worth more than any brochure we could print. Thank you for that.
